Commonly available in different transparent crystalline forms. They can also be thin, laminated and brittle. Ground colemanite is a grayish white powder (reddish gray). Ground colemanite is available in two different finenesses, standard and fine. The nominal chemical composition of colemanite is: B2O3 = 50.9%, CaO = 27.2% and H2O = 21.9%. Applications:

• Sodium-free fiberglass industry
• Raw lead enamels
• Heat-resistant glass manufacturing
• Cleaning agent
• Low temperature flux that helps prevent cracking
• Opacifier
• As a substitute for calcium in enamels
